Southeast Asian Cybersecurity Startup Horangi is One of the First Asia Pacific Companies to Offer Cybersecurity Services in AWS Marketplace

Horangi will extend cybersecurity services in Southeast Asia via Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, making it one of the first Asia Pacific (APAC) companies to do so in the digital catalogue.

  • Horangi is also among the first Asia Pacific (APAC) companies to have obtained the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security Competency, and is now part of the AWS Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Accelerate Program
  • Horangi has also embarked on partnerships with infocomm technology distributors such as Synnex Metrodata Indonesia in 2021, becoming the first distributor of Warden in one of Southeast Asia’s largest digital economies
  • Follows strong business performance across 2020 where Horangi closed a successful US$20 million Series B fundraise and secured 70 new projects

Singapore/Jakarta, Indonesia, May 4 2021 Horangi, a Singapore-headquartered cybersecurity company which provides solutions optimised for cloud-based organisations across Southeast Asia, will extend cybersecurity services in Southeast Asia via Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, making it one of the first Asia Pacific (APAC) companies to do so in the digital catalogue.

Horangi Network Security Assessment, Horangi Cybersecurity Tabletop Exercise, and Horangi ISO 27001 Certification Readiness Support are among the new solutions listed in AWS Marketplace, following the release of its flagship cloud security solution, Horangi Warden (Warden), in 2019. This was followed by several business milestones throughout 2020 which saw Horangi secure 70 additional new projects in Southeast Asia with major Indonesia and Singapore-based banks, insurers, and venture capital funds, as well as entering a distributor partnership with Synnex Metrodata in Indonesia.

Horangi has also emerged as one of the first APAC companies to be awarded the AWS Security Competency. This milestone comes as Horangi updates Warden with Identity & Access Management (IAM) capabilities, a timely development with the rise of distributed workforce arrangements that elevates the need to manage user access within organisations.

AWS is enabling scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions from startups to global enterprises. To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Competency Program to help customers identify AWS Partners with deep industry experience and expertise.

Horangi is also now part of the AWS Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Accelerate Program, which helps ISVs drive new business and accelerate sales cycles by connecting the participating ISVs with the AWS Sales organisation.

“Horangi’s listing of Warden in AWS Marketplace, obtaining the AWS Security Competency, and participating in the AWS ISV Accelerate Program comes at a timely moment as the ongoing digital transition accelerates the growth of cloud-first business models in Southeast Asia. Listing our cybersecurity services on AWS Marketplace enhances our ability to meet customer demand for effective cybersecurity solutions capable of boosting organisational digital risk postures,” said Paul Hadjy, CEO and Co-Founder at Horangi.

“With a proven track record working with some of the region’s fastest growing digital companies, Horangi remains committed to help Southeast Asia’s businesses effectively and securely transition to digital business models. COVID-19 has accelerated the shift to digital, and these milestones reaffirm the trust that Southeast Asia’s leaders have in Horangi to power their cybersecurity,” Hadjy added.

Southeast Asia’s Digital Transition Catalysing Demand for Cybersecurity

In the wake of the pandemic, digitalisation has become an operational imperative in Southeast Asia as businesses pivoted to accommodate remote working models, and to continue serving digital-first consumers with the rise of e-commerce. According to IDC, cloud is also forecasted to remain a top technology priority for Southeast Asian organisations as demand for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) powered solutions continue to be driven by distributed workforce arrangements in the wake of the pandemic.

Digitalisation will inevitably lead to the emergence of threat actors seeking to exploit weak links. It will be essential for organisations to adopt tools such as Horangi Warden which provide Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and most recently, IAM capabilities. Gartner recently identified CSPM to be a mandatory security asset that can help organisations effectively identify security blind spots, enhancing the overall resiliency of digital infrastructure through early remediation of vulnerabilities.

The availability of Horangi’s services on AWS Marketplace provides organisations with a cost-effective and scalable way to swiftly adopt and deploy leading edge cybersecurity solutions. For instance, Horangi was able to help Singapore-based mobile savings and protection company, Singlife, enhance visibility over its AWS environment as well as enforce compliance with stringent security standards with Warden CSPM, available in AWS Marketplace. Frank Png, Head of Infrastructure, Singlife, said “Our team’s productivity has skyrocketed since using Warden. Not only is Warden an intuitive CSPM platform for companies to manage their cloud security, but Warden’s customer service is also impeccable. Horangi is willing to listen to its customers and make the necessary improvements that benefit my whole team.”

"Security is always job zero at AWS, and in addition to the broadest and deepest range of AWS native cloud security services, we are excited about the diverse and fast-growing range of AWS cybersecurity partners supporting our South East Asia customers. Horangi is one of our established cybersecurity partners in the region and is already playing a key role in helping both global and regional customers securely adopt the AWS Cloud at scale. We are excited about this latest announcement where customers from across the globe can now access Horangi’s deep suite of cybersecurity cloud solutions via the AWS Marketplace," said Conor McNamara, Managing Director, ASEAN at AWS.

Sustained Business Momentum Led by Partnership with Synnex Metrodata Indonesia, Series B, and New Projects in Southeast Asia

Horangi has seen strong business momentum throughout 2020 in Southeast Asia where the company currently works with the region’s digital champions such as Gojek, Singlife, Shopback, Tiket.com, and PropertyGuru.

70 new business projects were secured in 2020, growing Horangi’s customer base by almost 50%. These include clients in the heavily regulated financial services sector including several of the largest banks in the region, as well as insurers and venture capital funds such as Direct Asia, NTUC Income and Openspace Ventures. This expansion was supported by funds from a successful US$20 million Series B round.

Horangi has since embarked on a partnership with Synnex Metrodata Indonesia (SMI) in 2021, becoming the first distributor of Warden Cloud Security in one of Southeast Asia’s largest digital economies. As Horangi pivots to a channel-focused growth strategy, it sees this Warden partnership with SMI as the first of many.

“Being among the first Asia Pacific companies to attain the AWS Security Competency along with our induction into the AWS ISV Accelerate Program serves as a testament to Horangi’s ability to keep pace with industry developments through constant innovation and technology expertise, entrenching our market leading position as we manage cyber risk for fast growing organisations in Southeast Asia,” said Raphael Peyret, Director of Product, Horangi. “The success of Horangi in the region speaks to the relevance of our cloud focused solutions, available to organisations on AWS. These are essential for business continuity especially with remote working models set to continue, allowing organisations to securely distribute workloads across multiple cloud service providers while saving on headcount costs.”

The Road Ahead for Horangi in Southeast Asia

Moving ahead, Horangi’s primary focus for 2021 will be to further increase its market share across Southeast Asia, exploring expansion opportunities and also potential collaborations with like-minded industry partners. In line with industry developments, Horangi will also continue enhancing the competitive advantages offered by Warden through feature updates developed in line with the growing trend of multi-cloud platform strategies.
